Howling V: The Rebirth (1989) on IMDb

Bored outta my mind last night and in the mood for some old school horror, I scrolled crackflix in search of some bloody nostalgia. I came across many tempting entries along the way; The Stuff, Terrorvision and Phantasm. Undecided in which direction I should go; monster, slasher, alien goo or zombie I flipped a coin and settled on Howling V: The Rebirth. It’s been years since I’ve watched a Howling flick, and I was stoked for some werewolf mayhem. Wow. The Howling V was absolute 80’s cheese (filmed in 89 released in 90).

Howling V

Scary Ass Werewolf.

And by 80’s cheese I mean absolute shit. The plot was incoherent, comical and downright stupid. I split my time between laughing hysterically and sleeping. The acting was absolutely atrocious, and the werewolf was almost entirely non existant; a quick blur here, and a snarl there. You really don’t get to see to much of the beastie in the film (guess they blew the budget on perms and hairspray). Howling V was a cheap ass murder mystery whodunnit, as opposed to a werewolf flick. Seriously, I think the only similarity to the original films were in name only.

Howling V: The Rebirth

We Suck!

Some crackhead on IMDb gave this a 8/10, un-fucking-believable! I would love to see what that dude thinks is trash? I liked the first three Howlings, but this; c’mon. This isn’t even horror. Campy cheese yes. Serious werewolf bloodbath horror? Hell no! Don’t watch it. Really, don’t watch this piece of garbage. And if you have, God have mercy on your soul. Terrible, terrible film. I need a beer and smoke.
