Heidi DJs at the local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the ‘Big H Radio Team’. A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma. Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners. The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting; the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for blood. (Wiki)

The Last Exorcism Part 2. 2013.

As Nell Sweetzer tries to build a new life after the events of the first movie, the evil force that once possessed her returns with an even more horrific plan.
Director: Ed Gass-Donnelly
Writers: Damien Chazelle (screenplay), Ed Gass-Donnelly (screenplay)
Stars: Ashley Bell, Spencer Treat Clark and Andrew Sensenig

I’ve read that The Last Exorcism Part 2 has abandoned the found footage, documentary stylings of the first film for a more traditional approach. The first film was a decent FF supernatural entry so I will be watching the sequel. Who knows it might even be good. If your into demonic possession films or just interested in the subject, The Last Exorcism Part 2 will be hitting theaters in March of this year. Check it out at IMDb.

Evil Dead. 2013.

Evil Dead. 2013.

Official Summary: Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

I’am all about the upcoming Evil Dead remake; for me it is probably the most anticipated horror film of 2013. I’m a huge fan of the first three films and have watched the 1st redband about 30 times since it debuted. Evil Dead 2013 looks right messed up, totally creepy and very bloody. Today I caught the second redband release and let me tell ya it’s f$%^n bloody! Real bloody. Check it out now! Right now!

DVD release date: October 18, 2012
Running time: 116 minutes

Checked out V/H/S last night and enjoyed it very much, despite hating anthology based flicks. The film is a grainy grindhouse(ish) mash-up of several genre’s of horror held together by a shaky not-so cohesive main plot. The main section of V/H/S has a dark and gritty 80’s feel to it, though I found it to be the weakest part of the film it does not detract from the individual storylines presented throughout. Each segment is portrayed via found footage compiled on a V/H/S tape and involves different characters and locations. Here is a general breakdown of each story minus any spoilers ofcourse. This little gem turned up on my Netflix suggestions the other day and after a horrible experience watching another “suggestion” (which I will discuss in another post) I was hesitant to take a chance on it. Was I ever surprised. House of the Devil turned out to be a great satanic cult based flick perfect for the halloween season late night horror viewing. Ti West delivers a great horror/suspense film set in the 80’s (which he pulls off superbly) complete with all your favourite 80’s bands. There are a few scenes in House that the gorehounds (me being one of them) will definitely appreciate; though it is pretty minimal and not the focus of the film. The lead, Jocelin Donahue is a hottie even though she is stuck wearing those horrible acid washed jeans that were so damn prevalent in the 80’s. My only gripe with House of the Devil was the ending, I felt it got a little wonky and overdone. Overall great movie for any fan of 80’s horror. Watch it.
