The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. 2013.

A young woman travels to Texas to collect an inheritance; little does she know that an encounter with a chainsaw-wielding killer is part of the reward.  (IMDb)

The long awaited sequel to the 74 classic Tobe Hooper bloodbath has opened this weekend.  I was unfortunate enough to miss the opening night due to some unforseen circumstances but will be catching the next showing  tonight.  I will be honest I have been itching badly for a good TCM flick since 2006’s Texas Chainsaw the beginning.  God I love a villain who chops up victims terribly and uses their skin for masks, don’t you.  We have had scary leatherface’s, fat leatherfaces (TCMNG), and an awkwardly horny leatherface (TCM3);  I loved em all, so I’m hoping relatively skinny leatherface in TCM3D will be just as loveable and horrendously vicious. In the meantime here a few early reviews and thoughts on the film and some TCM nostalgia to keep you (actually me) occupied until later today. (more…)

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. 2013.

It’s getting really close to the release of the new TCM flick, January 4, and I am really stoked to see it.  Found a new TV spot for the film this morning.  Texas Chainsaw 3D is an upcoming 2013 3D slasher film directed by John Luessenhop and written by Debra Sullivan and Adam Marcus, with later drafts by Kirsten Elms and Luessenhop. It is the seventh film in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise and is a sequel to the 1974 original film, immediately picking up where it left off. Filming began on the summer of July 2011. The film will be released on January 4, 2013.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. 2006.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, a 2006 American horror slasher film, functions as a prequel to the 2003 remake of the 1974 film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman and co-produced by Kim Henkel and Tobe Hooper (co-creators of the original 1974 film), the film went into release in North America on October 6, 2006. The film’s story takes place four years before the timeline of the 2003 remake. It stars Jordana Brewster, Diora Baird, Taylor Handley, Matt Bomer, and R. Lee Ermey.

The marathon is over and what a great film to end out on. I loved the prequel to the remake of the original??! Brutal, graphic, violent, bleak and disturbing are but a few of the words used to describe this dark little bloodbath. Ofcourse it’s not perfect, horror movies seldom are, but in my opinion it is a worthy addition to the TCM franchise. Excuse me I have to go warm up my chainsaw……….The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning @ IMDB

Next Up: A coffee and a smoke……until next time!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. 1994.

The plot centers on a group of teenagers who find themselves in a secluded area of forest on their prom night, only to cross paths with a family of murderers, among them the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface.

My eyes are now officially bleeding and I am debating if I should be purchasing a chainsaw…..weird. Anyway after having just finished the 4th film in my TCM marathon, the much loathed Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation starring the illustrious Matthew McConaughey and hmmmmmmmm uh Renée Zellweger, I have to say WTF! Pure chaos is really the only way to describe it. Or maybe absolute insanity.

I confess that I did enjoy it, Matt gave a pretty cool psycho performance, the soundtrack was pretty good and Toni Perensky as Darla had a nice boob scene. I did notice that Leatherface keeps getting fatter every movie; it must make it hard to run and carry a huge frikkin chainsaw around. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation on IMDB

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 1974.

Thank god it’s Halloween season again, it really gives me a good excuse to cram in tons of horror movies almost everyday without feeling overly guilty about casting aside the mundane tasks of everyday life.  I had an unscheduled day off today so I decided to indulge myself with a back to back TCM marathon.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is hands down one of my favourite horror films of all time, it spawned numerous sequels and remakes (good and not so good), establishing Leatherface as an American Horror Icon.

There really isn’t much to say about TCM that hasn’t been said a million times by critics and fans so I won’t bother getting into anything redundant.  I’m assuming whoever is reading this is already familiar with this horror classic and if your not I would highly recommend hitting this one up!  Im off.  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre at IMDB
