Mimesis (2011) on IMDb

I just stumbled across Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead this morning while surfing Youtube and thought I’d post it. The film is set for a February 12 DVD/Blu-Ray release, while a “sequel”, the unrealated Mimesis 2 is in the works, based on Nosferatu. Being a jaded zombie enthusiast, I am just fascinated by the constant re-imaginings and remakes of the mighty Romero classic, Night of the Living Dead. It seems every year or so a new (usually crappy) vision of NOTLD crops up from the dark corners of the interweb. From the horrible NOTLD 3D to the upcoming NOTLD: Resurrection (sigh), it seems that people will never tire of butchering the classic. Will Mimesis turn out to be another weak re-imagining or a fresh new take on a played out classic? Check out the trailer below, it does look pretty good. Here’s hoping…..

Heidi DJs at the local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the ‘Big H Radio Team’. A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma. Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners. The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting; the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for blood. (Wiki)

20130121-134416.jpgTwenty-six directors. Twenty-six ways to die. The ABC’s OF DEATH is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived with productions spanning fifteen countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world’s leading talents in contemporary genre film. Inspired by children’s educational books, the motion picture is comprised of twenty-six individual chapters; each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death. Provocative, shocking, funny and ultimately confrontational, THE ABC’s OF DEATH is the definitive vision of modern horror diversity.

The ABC’s of death is hitting Video on Demand everywhere today. Yeah! I’am going to track this badboy down and hit it up as soon as I can. In the meantime I caught T is for Talk on Youtube and wow! Bloody and disturbing, just the way I like em. If the rest of the anthology rolls like this, it’s going to be one hell of a ride. Check out the films info here (on this blog), Magnet Releasing (Official site) or over on IMDb. Check out the full version of T is for Talk below, some official stills from the film and a listing of where to watch on demand. NFSW

cropped-avatar3.jpgThe second installment of Crazy Ass Horror Film Deaths or CAHFD, lol.  It’s fun scouring Youtube and the interweb for unique or memorable clips of deaths in film; often watching a clip and remembering a long forgotten film or becoming interested in new ones.  Why do we watch horror flicks….for the killing, the blood, the guts, the gore and to a lesser extent the scares.  I have compiled a short list of a few memorable death scenes that have stuck with me over the years.  Graphic Clips probably NSFW.  Here they are in no particular order.
Take me to the clips

evil_dead_2013-3Evil Dead has been on my mind a lot these last few days and my anticipation for the films release (which has been moved up a week, thank god) is intensifying; so I squared away a few pages here dedicated solely to the Evil Dead.  News concerning the film, trailers that are being released, posters and stills will be added to the new section.  At the moment I have posted all the trailers I could find as well as some recent news, most of the stills that could be found and all of the posters.  Just click on the link at the top of the page —> Everything Evil Dead or click here.

WWZ. 2013

WWZ. 2013

As a zombie pandemic traverses the globe, United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) travels the world trying to find a way to stop the pandemic that is defeating armies and collapsing governments. World War Z is an upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Marc Forster and written by Matthew Michael Carnahan. It is based on the novel of the same name by Max Brooks. Courtesy Wikipedia.
Director: Marc Forster
Story by: Max Brooks
Screenplay: Matthew Michael Carnahan, J. Michael Straczynski
Producers: Ian Bryce, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Brad Pitt
Stars: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, David Morse
Budget: $125,000,000
Release date: June 20, 2013 (initial release)

I strongly recommend reading World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War before this flick comes out; it is by far the best zombie fiction written (an I’ve read a ton of it), in my humble opinion ofcourse. Can Pitt and $125 million budget pull it off? I hope so, this thing can go two ways, absolute shit or amazing adaptation, hopefully its the latter. Can’t wait for this. Check out the trailer, read the book and prepare for the hordes! WWZ @ IMDb.

I truly enjoyed V/H/S so when I stumbled across it’s sequel, the aptly named S-VHS, I instantly added it to my watch list.  Like I’ve said earlier I’m not a huge fan of anthologies but V/H/S and the soon to be released The ABC’s of Death are changing my mind on this type of film.  Check out the trailer and see what you think, personally I think it looks pretty cool.  I’ll get a better poster up when one is released.  Enjoy.  S-VHS @ IMDb.

The Mullbury Project

Honestly I’m in love with anything that mixes horror and sci-fi; be it games, movies, books, tv series, cosplay chicks, you name it. Add to that a few elements of PA (post apocalyptic for the laymen) and I’m all over that shit. While surfing Youtube this morn for more obscure and less obscure horror trailers I stumbled across this interesting trailer by the guys who co-wrote Hitman Absolution (ya the game), Martin Brennan and Michael B. Jackson. I couldn’t really find to much information on The Mulbury Project other than a FB page and some trailers scattered here and there, but what I do know is that the trailer looks pretty cool and so do the concept pics. Slated for release sometime in 2013 (lets hope so), I’m watching it! The Mulbury Project on Facecrack.

The Last Exorcism Part 2. 2013.

The Last Exorcism Part 2. 2013.

As Nell Sweetzer tries to build a new life after the events of the first movie, the evil force that once possessed her returns with an even more horrific plan.
Director: Ed Gass-Donnelly
Writers: Damien Chazelle (screenplay), Ed Gass-Donnelly (screenplay)
Stars: Ashley Bell, Spencer Treat Clark and Andrew Sensenig

I’ve read that The Last Exorcism Part 2 has abandoned the found footage, documentary stylings of the first film for a more traditional approach. The first film was a decent FF supernatural entry so I will be watching the sequel. Who knows it might even be good. If your into demonic possession films or just interested in the subject, The Last Exorcism Part 2 will be hitting theaters in March of this year. Check it out at IMDb.
